"People who take part in clinical trials are vital to the process of improving medical care."

Deirdre Thompson

Study Coordinator

It is easy to take part in one of our clinical trials. It can be worthwhile, both for you as an individual and for our community as a whole.

Before you make the decision about participating we will explain more about the study. READ MORE...

  • We will ask you about your medical history and general health to find out if you will be ok to participate in the trial
  • We will give you an information sheet about the study to read through. The information sheet will tell you what you need to know about the study and you will be able to discuss this with your friends, family/whanau and your own GP
  • If you are keen to participate we will arrange an appointment with our doctor and a study nurse
  • A consent must be signed before any study procedures are undertaken. Prior to signing the consent, we will explain the study further and you may ask as many questions as you need to.
  • Screening assessments and health checks will also be done at this visit to check you are a suitable candidate and make sure it is safe for you to take part.
  • If you qualify for the study we will arrange further appointments for tests or treatments.
  • With your consent we will communicate with your GP about your involvement.
  • All your personal information is kept confidential.
  • Your involvement in a study is entirely voluntary and you may withdraw at any stage for any reason
  • When the study is completed we will provide you with a copy of the results
